Pool Closing

  1. Balance hardness to proper range of 150-350ppm
  2. Adjust alkalinity to proper range of 80-120ppm
  3. Adjust PH to proper range of 7.2-7.6
  4. Remove ladder or entry system
  5. Vacuum pool thoroughly (If algae exists in your pool you must follow Killing Algae instructions first before closing your pool)
  6. Add the required amount of closing chemicals based on size of pool and chemical system. For Nature 2 and chlorine-based systems use a 20K or 10K winter kit depending on the pool size. Gentle Swim see: Winter Shutdown for Gentle Swim.
  7. Run the filter system for 24-48 hours.
  8. Drain your pool 6 to 8 inches below your return jet. (Be sure to avoid draining pool on lawn)
  9. Tie or anchor the appropriate number of winter pillows in the center of your pool.
  10. Cover pool with your winter cover making sure it will be secure in high winds
