Maintenance for Allied Spas
Maintenance for Spas with Nature 2 and Ozone
Congratulations on your purchase of a new Allied Spa. Allied Spas are designed to be a relaxing body of warm water hydrotherapy. The spa is relatively easy to maintain, but it can become difficult if neglected. By following these simple steps you can keep your spa water sparkling clear.
Start up
- Fill your spa with fresh hard water by placing a garden hose down the center of the filter cartridge opening.
- Wait until your water reaches 80 degrees before adding any chemicals.
- Test your water and balance your pH and alkalinity if needed.
- Place Nature 2 Cartridge in the skimmer basket or down the center of the filter.
- Add Spa Pure Granular Chlorine at the rate of 3 tablespoons per 400 gallons.
Weekly
- Test your water and balance your pH and alkalinity if needed..
- Shock the spa using Spa Pure Spa Shock at the rate of 3 tablespoons per 400 gallons.
- Add Spa Perfect at the rate of 1oz per 100 gallons.
- Add Spa Pure Stain & Scale Preventer at the rate of 1 ½ tablespoons per 500 gallons.
- Mid week (or 2-3 days after doing the above weekly instructions) add Spa Pure Granular Chlorine at the rate of 3 tablespoons per 500 gallons.
Every Six Weeks
- Clean your filter using Allied Filter Cleaner by soaking the filter in a 5-gallon pail of water mixed with 1 quart of filter cleaning solution. The filter should soak overnight before rinsing it off and returning it to the spa.
Every Four Months
- Drain and refill your spa.
- Replace the Nature 2 cartridge.
- Repeat the start up process.
Note: After heavy or excessive use of the spa (more than 4 times a week) you may need to add an additional dose of Spa Pure Granular Chlorine.
Maintenance for Spas with Bromine

Start up
- Fill your spa with fresh hard water by placing a garden hose down the center of the filter cartridge opening.

- Test your water and balance your pH and alkalinity if needed.
Daily
- Maintain 2-6 ppm of bromine using a bromine tablet dispenser filled with Spa Pure Bromine Tablets. You may need to adjust the dispenser a few times before finding a setting that maintains the appropriate level of bromine. You may instead use a granular bromine to maintain a consistent level of bromine in your spa.
Weekly
- Test your water and balance your pH and alkalinity if needed..
- Shock the spa using Spa Pure Spa Shock at the rate of 3 tablespoons per 400 gallons.
- Add Spa Perfect at the rate of 1oz per 100 gallons.
- Add Spa Pure Stain & Scale Preventer at the rate of 1 ½ tablespoons per 500 gallons.
